Description
UV Water Purifier and Bacteria Removal
Bacteria can be found in many private water wells particularly near dairy farms, large poultry farms and other intensive animal farms in Munster and throughout Ireland. The microorganisms which find their way into a water supply can come from a variety of sources including animal waste, dead or decaying animals, septic tanks, sewage, slurry tanks and slurry runoff.
One of the effective ways to treat microbial contaminated water is through the use of UV light filters (ultra violet water filters). Eco-friendly, UV light sterilizers provide one of the safest ways to disinfect water, without the need for chemical disinfectants. The filtered and UV treated water tastes better as chlorine or other harsh chemicals are not used in the process. A prefilter housing with 5 micron filter cartridge included with the UV lamp ensures pure filtered water for drinking. Ultra violet UV filters are widely used in the food and beverage industry.
A UV Water Purifier deactivates bacteria and other organisms like:
- Algae
- Cholera
- Coliforms
- Cryptosporidium
- Dysentery bacilli
- E. coli
- Fungi
- Giardia
- Hepatitis B
- Mycobacterium tuberculosis
- Salmonella
- Streptococcus
- Some viruses
Ultraviolet or UV disinfection virtually eliminates environmental and safety problems, and is also cost-effective.
Ultraviolet disinfection of water employs low-pressure mercury lamps called UV Lamps or UV Lights. They generate short-wave ultraviolet in the region of 2537 Angstroms which is lethal to micro-organisms including bacteria, protozoa, viruses, molds, yeasts, fungi, nematode eggs, and algae.
UV lamps should be replaced at regular maintenance intervals otherwise an inadequate dose of radiant energy may result particularly if the water contains materials which absorb or prevent the light from reaching the bacteria, or if the quartz sleeve in the UV bulb becomes coated.
Users of ultraviolet irradiation equipment should recognize the need for regular maintenance, including lamp replacement and cleaning. UV lamps are typically designed to operate for one year, during which time radiant output will progressively decrease.
