Ultraviolet (UV) light is well established as a fast acting, point-of-contact disinfection technology for water treatment. UV, at the 254 nm wavelength, penetrates the cell walls of micro-organisms and permanently alters their DNA structure – rendering them inactive and unable to reproduce. UV is also effective for reducing ozone (O3), chlorine and chloramines compounds, and total organic carbon (TOC) compounds to required levels.
Commercial UV Water Treatment Systems and Ultraviolet technology is used for a number of different applications in the Industrial/Commercial sector. Treatment packages can be tailored to a number of applications or to individual treatment goals.Disinfection TOC reduction Ozone Destruction Environmental Contaminant Treatment
Suitable Commercial UV System Applications:
- Rural homes and cottages

Compact and efficient – Simple to install in space restricted areas, systems consume less space, cost less to operate, and perform more efficiently than any other comparable UV product.
New lamp technology – systems use fewer lamps to generate a given UV performance level, a function of our powerful new UV lamp technology. What does that mean to you? A smaller footprint, simplified maintenance, and lower operating costs.
Our unique state-of-the-art lamp laboratory – allows us to validate UV lamp output and operating characteristics in water-based environments – so you know your lamps will work properly. Our testing laboratory also enables us to provide you with validated replacement lamps, ensuring that your system operates over time as effectively as it did on day one.
Developed specifically for pharmaceutical applications, our range features a gap-free design, pulled connections, orbital welds and high-temperature CIP capability. The innovative, fully calibrated UV sensor is encapsulated in a virgin PTFE housing that locks the sensor in place. This design completely eliminates sensor travel and allows sensor change-outs without opening the system.
systems meet the demands of EP, USP, and WFI applications including the critical validation process. All systems comply with cGMP and the FDA requirements and sanitary connections conform to DIN, NEN and USDA 3A standard systems offer complete traceability including validation and certification of sensor, meter and lamps.
UV has many applications in the Pharmaceutical industry:
Disinfection – the industry uses UV for various disinfection applications due to its rapid and reliable kinetics. UV penetrates the cell walls of micro-organisms, eliminating their ability to reproduce.
Ozone Destruction – UV is also used to reduce Ozone to dissolved oxygen efficiently and reliably. The Ozone absorbs UV energy and quickly dissipates.
TOC Reduction – UV is also used in conjunction with Deionization (DI) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) to reduce Total Organic Compounds (TOC).
Chlorine / Chloramine Destruction – UV can also replace sodium meta-bisulphate and carbon technologies to remove chlorine / chloramines. UV produces OH radicals that break chlorine / chloramine compounds down to their lowest constituents.
